With a record of 7-3, Varsity secured a spot in the playoffs after winning against Colony at home with a score of 55-6 on Oct. 31.
“I’m confident about the playoffs,” Junior Tristan Douglas said. “We should go deep this year, and we have a great quarterback (Steven Hall).”
This will be a back-to-back playoff experience for some of the players.
“I went last year, and it was a great experience,” Junior Oluwadolapo Oladeinde said. “We went far, but we played Lovejoy and lost. We hope to bring it back this year.”
New Varsity Head Coach Jacody Coleman said he is looking forward to representing the community.
“Anytime you can make the playoffs is great for our school,” Coach Coleman said. “Our senior class has done a good job leading the way, and our group has a good time playing with each other.”
He said he expects the team to compete at a high level.
“We feel we have the talent to play with anybody, and we are going to focus on one game at a time,” Coach Coleman said. “It is going to take our best, and we understand that, so our job is to prepare and be ready to play come next week.”
The team will face Anna this Friday, on Nov. 14, at R.L. Anderson Stadium. This will be the first round of the playoffs.
“Everyone should come out and support us,” Douglas said. “We have home-field advantage. Make sure to hype us up, and we will see everyone out there.”
