The Mobile Mission Center, provided by Mansfield Mission Center, is partnering with the Timberview Feeder to bring resources directly to students and families on campus biweekly through May 7.
“This essential resource is provided to ease financial strain, support well-being and ensure that families in the Timberview feeder have access to essential needs,” Support Counselor Andrea Smith-Love said. “We hope to meet their needs with dignity. No cost, no judgment”
Families of students in the Timberview feeder will have access to resources such as new and gently used clothing, shelf stable food, hygiene products, toiletries, accessories and toys on campus provided by donors of Mansfield Mission Center.
“Our generous donors restock the Mobile Mission Center biweekly,” Smith-Love said. “It is essential for families to be aware of available resources and to limit barriers to assessing them. These supports play a crucial role in promoting stability and well being beyond academics. This ultimately strengthens family engagement and supports student success.”
The center is open to all families who need assistance. Also, counselors and MMC staff can identify families who may benefit from additional resources beyond the school setting.
“The amount of items you need is based on the number of people in your family,” Smith-Love said. “Resources are determined by the household size to ensure (they) are evenly distributed. Mansfeld Mission Center will ensure that families are provided the resources needed to thrive.”
Families can come in, browse and select items they might need.
“We are grateful to have this amazing resource for our feeder pattern,” Smith-Love said. “We invite families to explore the space and thank them for their generosity to our feeder.”
Students can speak to their academic counselor or Smith-Love for assistance.
she said, “Our primary goal is to serve our families who lack resources and ensure accessibility to these resources.”
Smith-Love has spearheaded other projects on campus including the Wolves Zen Den, which she said is a calming space for students and staff to decompress and reset when overwhelmed on campus. Also, she helped create The Wolves Care Closet that offers access to hygiene essentials products and snacks to students on campus.
