Coastline Drivers Education courses are now being offered on campus for students starting Feb. 23 through March 12, in Room 1310 from 3-5 p.m.
“We wanted to offer this course right after school so that students and parents have easier access to driver’s education courses and don’t have to travel as much,” Principal Natassia Neal said.
The state-approved program is designed to help students ages 14-17 complete the 24 hours of classroom instruction needed to obtain their learner’s permit.
“It’s important that our families have opportunities that are brought to them instead of always having to go out and find them,” Neal said.
Over the three weeks students are taught traffic laws, alcohol and drug awareness, techniques on defensive driving, and the legal and financial responsibilities of driving in a classroom. After completing the class on campus, students and parents have to schedule the physical driving portion at Coastline Drivers Academy on Debbie, in Mansfield.
“I love the program, it’s going very well for the students too,” Neal said. “We plan on offering more sessions for the class next semester.”
A discounted rate will be offered to students. To sign up use the following link: https://coastlineacademy.com/tx/course/classroom-drivers-ed-timberview
“Students in any grades are welcome to sign up,” Neal said. “We are encouraging all of our kids to become successful drivers early.”
