Singer and performer Olivia Rodrigo, makes a return with her third album after three years since 2023. She has left fans thrilled to hear what emotions she’ll bring to their ears, since it is known to be something different and unlike her: a track of love songs with a little lace of melancholy.
Toward the beginning of March, Olivia began teasing the album by hiring workers to paint a wall in Los Angeles, every night in a different shade of pink. This rotated for about a week. Fans immediately made assumptions about whether it was a love or rock album, and if she was even going to make a comeback to the music industry. Many began to see more walls painted worldwide, like in Paris. It wasn’t until days later, that she retouched her website with her new logo and font. This caused a hassle online, and assuredness that she was definitely coming back.
After disappearing for a few weeks since the teasing, she announced April 2 on her Instagram a third studio album “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love”. As mentioned in her caption, the record is expected to release on June 12. Just after posting this, fans went into a state of total chaos and couldn’t believe what their eyes were seeing. They were able to pre-order all kinds of merchandise such as vinyls, CD’s, shirts and more accessories on her website. Many of the items sold out within minutes of the announcement.
Not only did the singer stop there, on April 6 she posted four videos in four different places of her hanging a heart shaped locket on a fence, of her logo in pink. The locations took place in Los Angeles, London, Paris and New Jersey. This build up has caused adrenaline to fans who are curious to know more about what these hints mean.
As if the build up couldn’t be more exciting, Olivia announced on April 7 that she is dropping a new single called “drop dead” on April 17, making the internet to go crazy for their favorite pop princess.
Over the course of these last few weeks, as a Oliva Rodrigo fan myself, I am pleased to know that one of my favorite singers is coming back to feed us with songs we’ve been dying and needing to hear. It’s been three years since she’s released music and my heart is prepared for what she has in store for us.
