From pumpkin spice and leaves to sparkling lights and chilly, cold nights, as the holidays begin to come around the corner, the community comes together with joy to celebrate the holidays. To bring the amusement to your holiday spirit, here are five festive activities that you can enjoy throughout the month.
In the mood to see lights that make you feel holiday delight while relaxing? Take a stroll through Grand Prairie’s famous drive through lights! It’s $50 per car to enter, and there is a stop at the end of the ride for a mini village that includes food trucks, rides and photo props. You can even visit with Santa. There are over 5 million lights that are a sight to see, prepared for your eyes. This is located near Joe Pool Lake at 5610 Lake Ridge Pkwy in Grand Prairie. The last day to go is Dec. 31. Bring your blankets, preferably some money, and get cozied up in your car to have a memorable night under the lights.
If you’re looking to feel that adrenaline rush and holiday spirit all together, drive yourself right on over to Holiday in the Park in Six Flags Over Texas! This is the theme park’s annual seasonal event all throughout the month. As you walk, you will find food, dazzling lights, special decorations, festive shows, and last but not least winter-themed rides all around you. Some extra activities going on include entertainment such as the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Holly Jolly Trolley, The Mistletones and so much more. Park tickets are on holiday sale for $45, unless you have a season pass. The event is from 8 p.m. to closing at 2201 E. Road to Six Flags in Arlington. Bring along your family or friends and get the excitement started.
Get prepped and ready to do some holiday shopping and ice skating at the Galleria Mall. It’s an amusing and quick way to go gift shopping, while also having fun yourself. The mall has over 400 stores for you to choose and shop from, including an ice skating rink for you to skate and laugh with your loved ones. The rink has a huge tree to circle around and glide through. It’s a first come, first serve public rink that has general admission for $13, plus a $5 skate rental fee. The hours may vary on the days you think about going throughout the week so check online first. The mall is located at 13350 Dallas Pkwy #200 in Dallas. It’s definitely a delightful way to spend your time on a day off.
Take a journey through ICE at Gaylord Texas in Grapevine. This year’s theme features the whimsical world of Elf. There are over 2 million pounds of ice sculptures carved into large scenes as you walk through the trail. There is a huge jacket provided for you, photo props and two-story-tall ice slides. It’s a festive adventure that captures the spirit of the holidays. Some facts to know before you step inside is that there are 10 iconic scenes carved and there’s no time limits but it’s 9 degrees fahrenheit so dress warm. Tickets vary from $34-$48 depending on what day you take the adventure. You can find this holiday fun at 1501 Gaylord Trail, from 12-8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 10-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10-8 p.m., on Sunday. The last day to attend will be Jan. 4, so make sure to schedule the perfect date for you.
Lastly, take a walk to celebrate the well-known, self-proclaimed Christmas Capital of Texas in Grapevine. The Historic Main Street is transformed with lights, ice skating, the North Pole Express train, parades and festive markets to make you feel the holiday spirit. There are many restaurants to eat at like Italian, American, and more. Tag along with family and friends, to enjoy the destination with loads of fun. The city is located at 122 N.
