In hopes of recreating the success of Stranger Things, Netflix has released End of the F******* World, a new dark comedy created by Jonathan Entwistle, that caters to the everyday teen.

The End of the F****** World made huge waves all over social media after its debut on Jan. 5. Entwistle created The End of the F****** World, which received a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, after taking inspiration from Charles Forsman’s popular graphic novel. With eight episodes, each only 20 minutes long, the show is perfect for binge watching. Many fans praised the series for it’s dark twist on teen love which ultimately led me to put it into my watch list.

The show revolves around two misfit teens, James (Alex Lawther) and Alyssa (Jessica Barden), who embark on a road trip after abruptly leaving their miserable and uneventful lives back home. During their road trip, Alyssa and James run into deep trouble and attempt to keep a level head as they try to outrun incoming consequences.

The season opens up with James introducing himself as a psychopath. Further into the season, the story of James’ background takes a depressing turn as we are shown what happened in his childhood and the trauma it caused him. Also, we are introduced to Alyssa who has a firecracker personality and the mouth of a sailor. Her spur in the moment personality made me enjoy the show even more and I found myself laughing along.

Throughout the season, the relationship that blossoms between James and Alyssa will remind viewers of a Bonnie and Clyde love story but with a comedic edge. The chemistry between these two actors was refreshing and I appreciated how simple the show was. Teens will relate to most of what the show is about and felt that it touched on issues that some people are too afraid to speak up about.

The End of the F****** World is such an amazing show that I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a way to spend their free time and enjoy the unconventional relationship between two rebellious teens. The acting is a refreshing sight and it was worth staying up all night to binge.
