With a score of 44-8, the Varsity Football team won against the Everman Bulldogs last Friday in an away game.

“We have been working hard,” Coach Bobby Johnson said. “By making things simplified we execute on a higher level.”

Last year when the team faced Everman, the outcome was quite similar with a win 21-7.

“Everybody is doing their job,” Johnson said. “We have guys that accepted their role and know where they are while the younger guys are stepping up.”

With last season’s win-loss record of 6-5, senior Marquis Kiner said he expects this season to be better.

“We have worked so hard in the off season to get better,” he said. ”I feel us starting to learn how to play as unit. We have so much talent this year (that) I can’t see us doing worse than last year.”

This week the team will try to redeem themselves from last season’s 20-14 loss against the Frisco Lone Star Rangers in a rematch.

“We were not fully clicking offensively in that game,” senior Jalen Knox said. “It was a hard fought battle, we just ended up coming short.”

The game will be at Vernon Newsom Stadium tomorrow at 7:30 pm.

“We want to win since its Homecoming,” Knox said. “We haven’t won since I’ve been here.
