To start their competition season, the choir took part in their annual fall concert at the Mansfield Center for Performing Arts on Oct. 15

“(Preparing for the show) was very strenuous but enjoyable,” senior Roman Russell said. “Mrs. A(lexander) had different teachers and clinicians come in and give us tips and advice that helped us produce a better sound.”

This concert was their first performance of the year.

“(The concert) starts the beginning of every fall season,” junior Breana Deanda said. “It makes me feel ready for competition later in the year.”

Choir teacher Josi Alexander said the students are the reason the choir excels

The year for us is really just getting started,” she said. “The kids are more willing to work; I look forward to (them) being successful.”

The choir also performed the Star-Spangled Banner during half time at the Homecoming game.

“Our performance was absolutely stellar,” Russell said. “We were all unified and we had a perfect sound. We spent days and days trying to perfect it and we finally got it.

Deanda said she enjoyed working with the choir and preparing for competitions.

“I always enjoy singing and Ms. A makes my day because she’s so energetic when she teaches,” Deanda said. “The community in choir is fun to be around because all of us are close friends.”
