Drill team will host the Little Stars Dance Clinic on Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We have been choreographing the dance and making sure that everyone knows their age group parts,” junior Amaiya Bowers said.

The clinic, which happens twice a year for children Pre-K to 8th grade to learn about the Celebrities Drill Team, has been offered for several years.

“We also have this very same event in the spring time as well,” Coach Roland Latson said.

Bowers said that the team has been getting ready for the event in other ways besides choreographing.

“We’ve been preparing by making posters and flyers for the feeder schools and also coming up with fun things for participants to do,” she said.

Junior Jasmine Blond said that those who participate in the clinic will be given the opportunity to perform with the Celebrities during halftime at the Oct. 18 football game.

“This is a way to connect with the community and allow (kids) to have the opportunity to perform at halftime and sit in the stands with us at a football game,” Blond said. “They receive a chance to learn a dance and spend time with (us).”

Blond said that the drill team and the Little Stars Dance Clinic is such a great experience.

“It is like a sisterhood between my teammates that I wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else,” Blond said. “I have the chance to combine dance with school spirit.”
