The annual senior Capstones will be showcased on May 9, at 7 p.m., in the PAC.

“(The) project is a multifaceted-assignment that serves as a culminating academic and intellectual experience for students during their final year of high school or at the end of the theatre program,” Theatre Arts teacher Melissa Danforth said.

Each play will be 10-15 minutes long.

“We have mostly comedies but some have a dark undertone and most of the scripts are written by students,” Danforth said. “It’s going to be exciting.”

Most have been preparing for this project since the beginning of the year.

“The students already casted their shows and began building sets, props and costumes,” Danforth said. “They are rehearsing with their casts and doing everything I would do to prepare for their performances.”

Senior Torris Curry said he is looking forward to competing with his fellow classmates.

“The audience may even get to judge (the seniors) performances,” he said.

All seniors who are in theatre have the opportunity to participate in this event.

“It’s not necessarily mandatory but it’s a fun experience to do,” Curry said.

The participating students said that Danforth has been very supportive of them.

“I am very proud of all the students involved and it is wonderful to see them work,” Danforth said. “I learn a great deal from them.”
