Changes in Class Rank Raise Questions

Alex Roman, Staff Writer

Every year students run to the counseling office and request their transcript just to see their class rank. This year, many juniors were surprised to see their updated rank, because they went up a significant amount of spots in their class. However, this wasn’t the work of any magic or accident.

Any summer courses that students took were added into their transcripts therefore giving them more leverage. In addition, because so many students decide to graduate early there were many students who were simply reclassified as seniors. Also, every year there are students who move over to different campuses. But of course, people moved up in their ranking due to their hard work and dedication to their work and classes.

Nothing is magically done. So, when I noticed all the shocked and surprised faces it made me chuckle a bit seeing that those same people don’t realize that it wasn’t just because students were shifted around, it was because they themselves worked hard.

I have constantly heard the phrase, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
You don’t have to be the smartest person in your grade level to work hard and make yourself better.

So, if anyone else wants to continue to see “magic” happen on their transcript, simply get it together and start your journey of hard work.
