Varsity Football Makes Playoffs Despite Recent Loss

With a score of 33-29, the Varsity Football Team lost to the Summit Jaguars last Friday Night at Newsom Stadium but still managed to make playoffs.
“Summit is a really good team,” Defensive Linemen Coach Guy Humes said. “They’re 9-1 and for our guys to play as high as they did, we’re very proud of them.”
After the loss, the team’s chances to attend playoffs rested on a coin flip which, by luck, they won securing their spot.
“I feel like we are very fortunate and it was meant to be,” Linebacker Nate Collins said. “A lot of people say we barely got in the playoffs but at the end of the day we’re in and that’s all that matters.”
The Wolves first playoff game will be against South Oak Cliff in Desoto on Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
“If the team we have been playing with continues to improve, we can go on a pretty good run,” Humes said. “We want to make the school and community proud of us.”
Center Ever Beruman said that the team has to prove all their doubters wrong.
“I believe we will win this game,” he said. “We have had successful practices all week and we are pumped up for this.”
