With a score of 48-14, the Varsity Football Team defeated the Seguin Cougars last Friday night at R.L. Anderson Stadium.

“This was significant because it was the first district game,” Wide Receiver Jaylin Loftis said. “We can come off this district (win) strong and continue to do good like we always have.”

After the second quarter, the score was 28-14, which would be the last time the Cougars saw the endzone.

“By halftime the team was feeling it,” Offensive Tackle Moses Carlock said. “We had to stay focused and remember the game wasn’t over yet.”

Over the past two games, the Wolves lost the lead after halftime.

“Our team didn’t do anything different this game,” Defensive Coordinator Robert Johnson said. “They (the team) finally overcame the mental block that had riddled the team for a while.”

The next game will be Fri., Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m., against the Lancaster Tigers in Lancaster.

“I don’t think Lancaster will be able to keep up with us,” Wide Receiver Jaylin Loftis said. “Their offense is not sound, so our defense will tear them apart.”
