Piñatas hanging from the ceiling, a radio blaring Hispanic music and the sweet smell of fresh pastries and tortillas hit me as soon as I walked through the door of Marquez Tortilla Factory and Bakery.

The family-owned restaurant business, with two others locations in the DFW area, is my first choice for homemade Mexican food. Not only do they have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu they hand-make pastries, tortillas and assorted salsas.

The smell alone will make your mouth water and you will be anxious to try the food. The choices were endless, but I went with a simple selection of three crispy beef tacos, with a side of refried beans and rice. The wait was agonizingly slow, but with quality comes patience, and the wait was definitely worth it.

After my first bite of beans and rice, my mouth exploded with flavor, which paired well with the melted queso fresco and cheddar cheese on the beans. Then I dove into the taco; the beef was followed by the crisp fresh lettuce and tomatoes. Lastly, the nice crunch of the shell rounded off a very good, homemade taco. The only faulty part of this taco was that the bottom became soggy, and broke apart. However the all around amazing taste made that hardly even noticeable.

The service was excellent and the staff was friendly. Without a doubt this is an amazing place. For a mere $7, you get a filling meal. The balanced professionalism and easy-going attitude, gives customers a feeling that they are getting authentic cooking and genuine hospitality.
