As a result of their last performance, the Winter Guard team will compete in a national competition on Feb. 6.

“This competition puts Timberview on a national stage,” director William Agustin said. “They will be critiqued by national judges and be compared to other groups throughout the country.”

Sophomore Vanessa Zuleta said she is eagerly awaiting the competition.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the different Color Guard teams perform,” she said.

Agustin said the school’s Color Guard team is very young compared to other teams.

“Out of the 11 members, there are only two members that have more than one year of experience,” he said.

The Color Guard’s show is entitled “I AM the Moonlight.”

“The members of the guard represent the moonlight coming out from a window onto the floor,” Agustin said.

Senior Adriana Tapia, team captain, said that everyone has talent.

“No one is weak on the team,” she said. “As long as we all do our jobs, we’ll make it to finals.”

Agustin said he has high hopes for the team and their performance, but still wants the team to have fun.

“Since this is the very first time in THS history that a Color Guard is competing at a national level, we hope to just do our very best,” he said. “We are competing for the experience.”
