After months of preparation, the Fine Arts Department debuted their winter musical, Tarzan on Jan. 21-23 at the Mansfield PAC.

“I loved the (musical),” junior Janice Kimoro said. “It brought me to an emotional state in which I cried when Kerchak died. Them crying as a family just started to make me want to cry.”

After enjoying last year’s musical, junior Matthew Ontiveros said he bought tickets to Tarzan.

“I saw In the Heights,” he said. ”I really liked how they did (the show) and I wanted to see this one too.”

The plot was a lot like the broadway musical.

“It was (really) similar, but there were some scenes that were different,” Ontiveros said.

The character Tarzan was junior Korrine Lopez’s favorite persona.

“I (felt Andrew Sykes) really portrayed Tarzan like how he would be in person,” Lopez said.

Ontiveros said his favorite tune was “Two Worlds.”

“It (has) always been a classic for me,” he said. “Even when I was a little kid I loved to sing that song.”

To view the show once more, Kimoro attended the musical on Thursday and Saturday.

“I went twice because I had to see it again,” she said. “(The musical) was amazing.”
