Winter Art Camp Offers Volunteer Hours

In an effort to earn community service hours, the annual Winter Art Camp was open to anyone that wanted to volunteer on Dec. 12.

“The kids are so energetic and creative they have their own ideas with creating artwork,” sophomore Ta’Quell Mckenzie said.

Those that were interested signed up in Room 1403.

“Your job is help them use their skills and their personal expectations to fulfill the projects but not to do the work for them,” Art Club Sponsor Dallas Williams said. “You’re going to only help them with the materials.”

By helping, students were able to earn eight hours of community service.

“I ask the volunteers (to) stay the whole day for the event, but they are not required,” Williams said.

Junior Maria Medina said she loves volunteering.

“I love seeing their happy faces once they explore the art world,” she said. “I believe that through art they express what they really feel and it’s really nice to see how creative they can be.”
