2021 MTV VMAs: The Best Red Carpet Looks

Held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the MTV Video Music Awards made its’ in-person comeback Sept. 12. The annual awards show is known for its unforgettable performances and bold outfit choices. Listed below are the best, or most interesting, outfits from the red carpet.

Doja Cat, the host for the VMAs, stunned in Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood. She’s seen in a black corset dress with a purple sash that drapes across her torso and wraps around her waist paired with red thigh-high stockings and matching platform boots.

This year’s breakout star Olivia Rodrigo wore an archive Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2001 dress. The peach-colored strapless dress is layered with a sheer purple material wrapped around it. She accessorized the gown with matching butterfly earrings.

Kim Petras made quite the entrance by showing up with Paris Hilton in a pink convertible, but it didn’t end there. Petras walked the Red Carpet in Fall 21 Richard Quinn. The German singer wore a black latex face covering and a beautiful floral mini dress. She finished off the look with Roger Vivier pumps.

The ‘Wild Side’ singer, Normani, made her long-awaited VMAs comeback and did not disappoint on the red carpet. She wore a white faux leather two-piece set from Patrycja Pagas. The mini skirt and cropped jacket were paired with white pumps and silver accessories.

Bretman Rock paid homage to Aaliyah in this yellow tiger-striped dress from Roberto Cavalli. Rock finishes off the look with vinyl thigh-high boots and curly hair. Aaliyah popularized the dress by first wearing it to the VMAs in 2000. Recently we’ve seen it on Kim Kardashian and Paloma Elseesser.

The “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” rapper Lil Nas X stunned in a custom, lilac Atelier Versace suit-dress reminiscent of Lil’ Kim’s 1999 VMAs look. The off the shoulder suit jacket is covered in rhinestones which swoops into a long train. The look was paired with matching square toe boots.

One of the most talked about celebrity couples of the year Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly did not disappoint on the VMAs red carpet. Megan Fox wore a sheer, crystal-embellished midi dress from Muglier. She accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and Jimmy Choo pumps. MGK shined in an all red Dolce and Gabbana suit with black patent leather dress shoes.
