As a result of first semester TCC classes’ ending earlier than the district’s, those students have two weeks off.

“Students spend their time visiting or doing homework for other classes,” Librarian Jennifer Rike said.

The students without classes report to the library to sign in and are not allowed to leave campus.

“I really just want to go home or use my time to go get some food,” junior Jacob Munoz said. “I feel like since I have a car, I should be able to leave.”

The period off has allowed Rike to get to know some of the kids.

“The students have been great,” she said.

Having the time off is extremely beneficial, junior Jimmy Le said.

“Some days I go to a certain teacher to get tutoring or finish the classwork,” he said.

Students will return to their TCC classes for the second semester Jan. 19.

“I like my classes but I don’t want to go back,” Munoz said. “I want to keep sleeping and having the time off for the rest of the year.”
