During summer band camp, students Alex Klonis and James Passmore confirm they’re clear of all fines.

Makeup and hair products covered the restroom sinks as girls prepared for their I.D. pictures while boys were wiping away sweat and applying cologne to greet administrators.

“I had to run towards the entrance because I knew it was going to be crowded,” sophomore Vanessa Zuleta said.

Band students, along with football and volleyball, were released from practice from 1-2:15 p.m., to receive their schedules on Aug. 11.

“This was much better than having groups of students missing throughout the week,” Assistant Band Director Bryan Teague said.

This was the first year students in summer practice groups were allowed to get their schedules before anyone else.

“They made all of us go on that day because they didn’t want us to miss practice,” junior Sara Williams said.

Freshman Arianna Bowlin said that she enjoyed getting her schedule early.

“I (had) already been with those kids for a week, so it was easier to be around them then the other freshmen that I haven’t seen all summer,” she said.

Band students had to meet up with their sectionals by 2:30 p.m.

“It didn’t happen because we ran late since it was so busy,” Zuleta said. “Guard didn’t start practice till 3 p.m.”

Zuleta said that getting her schedule was chaotic.

“It was better last year because we only missed like 15 minutes and some people missed some stuff like drill but this year it was an hour I missed from rehearsal.”

Teague said that he hopes that the pickup schedule continues next year.

He said, “Band students were finally able to get registered all at the same time.”
