The Battle of the Classes (BOTC) participants competed against each other in the second Messy Pep Rally, which took place in the Varsity Gym last Wednesday during ninth block.

“We had a lot of oatmeal and clam juice as well as grapefruits and caramel to add to the mess,” Student Council Sponsor Heather Colburn said.

Hog Committee Head Karen Cruz said the craziest part of the pep rally was all the money raised.

“I heard that we had three people give $100 bills, and they were all from different classes,” Cruz said. “It’s honestly amazing and beautiful how devoted these kids are to (this) week.”

The seniors gained several points for their numerous wins at the pep rally.

“(They) stood out to me during this pep rally, which I wasn’t expecting,” Hog Crew member Lizzy Hennessey said.

Cruz said the students showed more enthusiasm.

“The crowd was fantastic, especially from where I stood, because everyone was so spirited and full of energy,” she said. “The seniors even had an ‘ESPN’ section (so) it was just awesome.”

The scores as of Thursday morning are freshmen with 13 points, sophomores with 40, juniors with 65 and seniors in the lead with 72.

“Being the scorekeeper is a big responsibility and even with getting accused of cheating, I really enjoy it,” senior Jorge Johnson said.

Hennessey said the pep rally was a great way to end her day.

She said, “I was with a ton of people I loved, doing things that are pretty hilarious and it was just an overall great experience.”
