Counselors Bring College Fair to Commons

In an effort to give students another opportunity to explore what different schools have to offer, a college fair will be held in the Commons from Oct. 28-30.

“I’m looking forward to students being exposed to the different types of schools that are out there,” Counselor Lisa Davis said. “Any opportunity that we get to expose our students to post-secondary opportunities, we grab them.”

This is the second year that a College Fair has been hosted at the school.

“I know that we have a district-wide college fair and I hope that everyone that can (attend), will,” Davis said. “However I also wanted colleges to be on our campus for those students that cannot make it to the district’s college and career fair.”

The idea benefits students, junior Daria Ervin said.

“The college fair is important,” she said. “It helps me narrow down my choices for college and to see how it really will be (from) a college perspective of (students).”

Colleges from outside of Texas will attend.

“I hope students get a broader idea of the types of schools that are available to them,” Davis said. “I hope they continue to dream big and find other universities that they may have never considered.”

Davis said she plans on having more college fairs at the school in the future.

“I hope the career and college fair continues to be successful,” she said. “We would love any feedback on how to improve.”
