As the boys get ready for another take, they run through the mistakes, reminding themselves to let their personalities shine. After the third try, seniors Leo Espinosa and Abel Barron finally got the video they were hoping for.

“Making our first video was hard because we really weren’t sure what we wanted to do,” Barron said.

Last month, the two decided to start “The Host,” a YouTube channel with the goal of expressing themselves and entertaining others.

“Leo and I love to share our charisma with other people,” Barron said. “We’re a little mix of everything.”

They plan to post videos weekly.

“We will do some of the tags such as the best friend tag (and) relationship do’s and don’ts,” Barron said. “We have even been sketching skits, but we will also cross serious topics.”

Espinosa said he hopes the videos will encourage other people to serve their community.

“If we do promote it (service), people will view it and be impacted to give back as well,” he said.

Espinosa said his inspirations are YouTube personality Tyler Oakley and the Super Fruit duo of Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying.

“We aren’t specified to a (certain) audience,” he said. “Our show is for everyone. We try to be as relatable as possible.”

Barron said he wants to make a positive impact, which will hopefully lead to him being able to donate to The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization focused on suicide prevention for teenagers in the LGBT community.

“When you are having a bad day we will be here to reach our hand out to you,” he said.

Espinosa said he hopes to end his senior year with a “bang” by creating these videos and becoming a listener to those who are in need of advice.

He said, “We really want to show people that we’re kindhearted because we just want to help out.”
