The first round Bi-District playoff game for varsity boys baseball will be Thursday, May 2 at the Timberview Baseball field against Grapevine High School.
“Our expectations continue to stay high,” Junior and Pitcher Cooper Jones said. “We want to finish this season off well.”
The second game will be played at Grapevine on Friday. If needed, a third game will be played at home on Saturday. The team’s standing this season has made more advancements than in previous years.
“Coach has been more concentrated and more motivated than in previous seasons,” Jones said. “We have a better standing in the games.”
Players changed some habits to continue staying in the lead.
“I had to change and strengthen my mentality,” junior Carter Guenther. “I went with the mindset that I could dominate.”
Jones said he concentrated on the small details to ensure a steady game.
“This season, I took longer to warm up before games,” Jones said. “Before, I would just go straight into the game.”
Creating the best relationship with the players maximizes the outcome, Johnson said.
“Understanding your kids is the most important aspect,” he said. “I try to put them in the best situation to be successful.”
Johnson said the team hopes to advance in playoffs and end the season strong.
“We want to continue playing good baseball,” Johnson said. “To represent that Timberview has the ability to play well.”
