Having a record of 7-5-1 , the girls varsity soccer team makes it to playoffs.

With a 7-5-1 record, the Lady Wolves Varsity soccer team has secured a position in the first round of playoffs and have a game this Thursday in Waco.

“I’m proud of the team and what we have accomplished so far,” freshman Blake Aldridge said. “There were a few bumps in the road but we got past that and made our goal.”

One player said that the season has brought them together.

“I feel like we’re closer as a family and that’s going to carry us a lot farther than it did last year,” senior Megan Meyer said.

The seniors on the team have now been to playoffs three out of their four years.

“Our playoff chances were really solid because we are putting effort in all the time,” Meyer said.

The team lost five seniors last year.

“It’s a little bit more of a struggle but we can pull it off,” sophomore Hannah Saylor said.

As the season continues, Head Coach Casey McLean said the team is working on playing together.

“We are not always very consistent in the way we play and that hurts us in some games,” he said.

Meyer agrees with McLean.

“We need (to work) on overall touches on the ball and really working on putting in effort all the time: not half doing things,
but just giving it everything,” she said.

Aldridge is proud of her team’s status.

“We have had many ups and downs with people leaving and getting hurt, but we’ve been able to push all that aside and have been able to focus and play well,” she said.

The coach said the team still has some areas to work on.

“We are continually working to make ourselves better both individually and as a team,” McLean said. “Keeping the concepts the same has been an aid to making us better in this area.”
