Second Messy Pep Rally Raises $890

The Battle of the Classes (BOTC) participants competed against each other yesterday in the Varsity Gym in the final messy pep rally for HOG Week.

“It felt great cleaning up at the end because we put in so much effort to make this successful by creating simple, messy and fun ways to raise money,” sophomore Abieyuwa Musa said.

The classes raised $890 in 45 minutes.

“Watching everybody get messy and enjoying it got the crowd excited and even more willing to donate money,” Musa said.

English teacher Peter Downing challenged the freshmen to raise $300 to shave his beard. Additionally, if they raised $600, he would have it glued back to his head with syrup.

“It’s going to be fun to see his beard get shaved off,” freshman Megan Davis said. “We’re really competitive, so I’m sure we’ll collect another $300 today.”

Students and teachers participated in games like Messy Twister, Panty Hose Head, Tug of War and a Squid Relay.

“The grossest game was the Feet Sponge because the students had to drink the mystery juice squeezed from their partner’s feet,” junior Erin Vereen said.

Sophomores are currently in second place, behind the seniors.

Sophomore Marissa Crawford said, “even though we’re almost through with HOG Week, I definitely think we have a chance of winning.”
