In order to commemorate Veterans Day, JOTC marched in the Dallas parade on Nov. 11, 2015.

“I hoped (the cadets) would get the true meaning of Veterans Day because it’s more than just a parade,” JOTC instructor Sergeant Sennie Cox said.

Veterans Day is a holiday that honors the end of World War I.

“The program has been marching in the parade since 2006,” Cox said.

Cadets spend the beginning of the year preparing for the event.

“It was my first time marching the parade,” sophomore Jakob Hazen said.

“It was a great opportunity and It felt amazing just to attend.”

Senior Jonathan Rowland said he made memories at the parade.

“My favorite part was marching in front of all the veterans,” he said.

The parade was recorded by many local news stations and broadcast that evening.

“Given the opportunity to march in the parade was one of the most nerve racking but extraordinary experiences I’ve had in JOTC, or at Timberview in general,” Hazen said.

Many of the cadets felt anxious to be apart of such a huge event.

“It was exciting,” Hazen said. “But there was such a huge amount of pressure.”

Hazen said that although the march was long and tiring, he enjoyed it.

“I would definitely attend another Veterans Day parade if given the opportunity,” he said.
