The rock band played at all lunches and the closing ceremony during HOG week.

The Timberview Rock Band comes together and provides a taste of both old time classic rock and modern rock at school functions.

“I love that we can show our individuality,” sophomore Briana Clark said. “We really express ourselves.”

The band performed at all lunches and the closing ceremony during HOG Week.

“It (HOG Week) was amazing and playing in front of everyone made it that much better,” junior Forest Albano said. “Hearing everyone cheer put the band in a good mood.”

Sponsor Mary Waldrop started the band five years ago and also plays with the group.

“I saw a need not being met,” she said. “A number of students were walking around with guitars and had no place to play.”

Guitar player Dylan Harper, who is a junior, plays to spread his love for music.

“I enjoy playing so that other people can have a chance to hear good music,” he said.

During the lunches students started forming a crowd as the band played.

“I love how they just come together to do what they love,” junior Farah Abubaker said. “I really love that they’re sharing their passion.”

The band brings students and teachers together, sophomore Miranda Flores said.

“It’s cool because it’s not just a student thing,” she said. “(It) shows that teachers aren’t just about school work but can also relax and have fun.”

The group practices every Thursday and plans on performing more challenging songs.

Clark said, “I feel like we are going to just keep getting better and finding songs that fit our personality as a whole.”
