Grammy Winner Meets with Band, Choir Students

March 7, 2018

Song producer and seven-time Grammy winner Shaun Martin met with band and choir students during sixth block today to answer questions and discuss his success in the music industry.

“It was a learning experience for me because I got to witness someone who has been successful,” junior Ivan Blaylock said. “It was a once in a lifetime experience to meet a Grammy winner because you don’t see or talk to one often.”

At the event, Martin answered questions by students and Choir Teacher Josi Alexander.

“He told us how he made it in the business,” junior Alex Malay said. “That really impacted me because I knew that to become successful I’d have to work hard, but to see how (Martin) still practices every day gave me a more realistic impression of the effort put in the music industry.”

To close the session, Martin played a few songs on the piano.

Blaylock said, “My favorite part was when he played on the piano because it was physical proof of hard work paying off.”
