Trump Won’t Triumph

Trump Won't Triumph

Alfredo Rendon, Staff Writer

As only a sophomore, I can’t really relate to the voice of politics, or the

condition of our nation as a whole. However, I have been very caught up in this

particular election season, for the same reason anyone else usually uninterested in

politics is- Donald Trump.

Trump, who is the biggest name in this electoral season along with the

biggest ego, started out with a bang. He earned immediate attention for his views on

immigrants, namely his comments that seemed to target Hispanics. His expressed

desire to build the new “Great Wall of Trump” along the southern border, his openly

expressed hatred of illegal entry and his ideology that all immigrants are a disease

have all turned heads.

I’ll be honest though, he is the most truthful candidate with his views and

intentions that I’ve seen in this election. Everyone knows where he stands. Right

now he is most appealing to the older generation who is more conservative and

those who just want to see what will happen.

Despite being well-educated, Trump often seems extremely prone to

embrace positions that end up major embarrassments for him. His promotion of the

myths that “Obama isn’t a U.S. citizen”, the anti-vaccination ideas, which scientists

have disproven, and repeated comments that make it seem like that he doesn’t

check facts or stay informed about serious issues.

Trump has never been a team player, even when it came to the business of

real estate. Only after a few short years of employment under his father did Trump

venture into his own realm of business. Potential investors have described him as

untrustworthy, and self invested, which is not a very good quality for the

frontrunner of the American people.

He has openly admitted to manipulating bankruptcy laws to enrich himself at

the expense of society and other people. He protects himself from risk by getting

governments and banks to shoulder more of the burden, which lets him off the hook

cheaply. If he has schemed his way to success and recovery, doing so at the expense

of the citizens who have to pay taxes, how could anyone get behind him leading the

nation?

The problem is that so many kids are flat out bored when it comes to the way

government works and I used to be like that too. Kids today need to find interest in

these matters and soon. Otherwise, the nation will be left to run by the people who

are willing to run with the biggest name.
