With a score of 20-21, the Varsity football team lost their game against Summit H.S., at Vernon Newsom Stadium, in Mansfield last Friday.
“We didn’t make enough plays,” Coach Guy Humes said. “If we would have executed the simple plays at a higher level, we would’ve won. We should’ve won that game.”
Varsity is now 3-4 in the 5A-2 Texas division.
“We fell short when we made the fumble in their endzone,” junior Chance Collins said. “That is when they started getting momentum.”
The team led the game until the 4th quarter.
“We didn’t keep fighting throughout the game,” sophomore Anthony DeSanto said. “We let loose because we were already up.”
The next game is Friday, against Burleson H.S., at 7 p.m.
Humes said playoffs is still the end goal.
“We’re going to continue to improve,” Humes said. “We’re making it to the playoffs.”
