With a score of 55-0, the Varsity football team won their last district game against Bryan Adams at R.L. Anderson, in Mansfield last Thursday night.
“On both halves of the ball, we did pretty good,” sophomore Ernesto Chavez said. “We shut them out on defense and scored a lot on offense. On special teams, we set the tone with the first kick return, when we first got the ball we punched it into the end zone real quick. Now we just have to get ready for the first week of playoffs.”
Varsity is 9-1. Bryan Adams did not score in the entire game.
“Everybody did their job, we did what we were supposed to do,” sophomore Cayden Callier said. “Defensively we did well and held them to zero points.”
The Wolves finished second in the district, their only loss to Richland, the first-place team that is undefeated.
“We played well, we had little to no mistakes,” senior Cartier Barber-Hayes said. “We just need to keep the tone going into next week.”
Playoffs start Friday, against Frisco Wakeland at Vernon Newsom Stadium, in Mansfield at 7 p.m.
“This week is going to go good,” Barber-Hayes said. “If we keep our head on right and focus on us, we are going to get the job done Friday night.”
