With a score of 90-0, the Varsity football team won their Pink Out game against Sunset at Vernon Newsom Stadium in Mansfield, last Thursday night.
“Overall we had a great game and executed on all levels,” sophomore Taylor Hanson said. “We got the 90-0 victory. I’m proud of us since we are one step closer to the State Championship.”
Varsity is now 8-0 with two games left in district. Sunset did not score the entire game.
“It was an amazing game and we are ready for Richland next week,” senior Richmond Nortei said. “We scored a whole bunch of touchdowns and defense made a lot of stops, so we need to continue to keep up this pace so we can be ready.”
Despite the recent blowouts, Coach Jason Young said Richland will be much more of a challenge and the team will have to be firing effectively on all cylinders.
“We played all of our roles and that’s all we need to do to win,” junior Jalil Cristan said. “Everyone as a team came together and did what we were supposed to, and at the end of the day we excelled.”
The next game is away against Richland this Friday, at BISD FA/AC at 7 p.m.
“We have a lot of work to do and we can practice and come back strong next week,” Nortei said. “We will have our opponent on our mind and we are going to be locked in all week and beat Richland.”
