With a score of 27-7, the Varsity football team won their first district game again W.T. White, at Loos Stadium in Addison, last Thursday night.
“I was disappointed, I felt like we could’ve done better against the team,” junior Joseph Foster said. “Our offense needs to step it up, and our defense needs to come out harder and not flat.”
The game ended early in the third quarter due to lightning delays and W.T. White conceding.
“As a whole we did good, but offense needs to clean some things up, and defense needs to clean some things up,” senior Hamin Milligan said.
Assistant Coach Ricardo Rendon said the team started the district season off strong.
“Defense played hard (though) they had better offensive lineman,” Rendon said. “ We are improving every week, we just need to stay on track.”
Last season Varsity won 70-17.
“We could’ve upped the intensity for sure, we could’ve played more intentionally and just dominated them more,” junior Dilan Battle said. “Other than that we played good, we were more physical.”
The Wolves next game is this Thursday, against Turner at Vernon Newsom Stadium, at 7 pm.
“The next game is going to go good, if we play how we are supposed to and play aggressive for the entire game,” senior Cameron Bates said. “We need to work together and play fast and physically, with no mental mistakes.”
