Students Face Summer Distractions
If you’re like me, then you must be constantly counting down the days until school is over. Only one six-weeks grading period left… just 30 days! Wait this six-weeks has seven weeks? What?
Just knowing that soon you will be able to sleep past noon, or have the soft warm sand between your toes makes students anxious. However, don’t get too caught up in the excitement because state testing, AP Exams and finals are right around the corner.
The warm heat from the sun can be a great distraction now that students realize that shorts can be a part of their everyday outfit and shaving legs become mandatory again for girls.
Going to the mall is even more of a distraction since almost all the clothes racks are filled with cute tank tops, Aztec printed bathing suits, and, of course, sunglasses.
Thinking of all these things makes me just want to jump into a swimming pool and be devoured by the summer sun, but homework, AP practice tests and my alarm ringing at 5:50 a.m., are a reminder that school is still going on.
Before you buy those cute high waist shorts, make sure you have everything in line to finish the school year such as your exemptions, passing all of your EOCs, and most importantly, all of your six weeks and semester grades.
This last six weeks should be a time for you to step-up in your study habits and show off your full potential. Instead of complaining about how bad your grades were last six weeks, try working to raise them. It’s never too late for self-improvement. Trust me, a little studying and effort goes a long way. You might even surprise yourself on how well you’ve done in so little time.
And just remember, in a few short weeks you will be sleeping your days away.
