Different Classes Need to Maintain Same Goal for HOG Week

Battle of the Classes freshmen team members participate in the first messy pep rally of the week.

Whistles, silly string, costumes and charity. These are all common things in our annual HOG Week.

HOG week is the most, positive, fun-filled week on our campus. It’s a time the student body steps up to give back. So what happens when a few “tributes” take their battles outside of the arena?

In what is supposed to be a week of selflessness and giving, it is easy to stir up some anarchy. Instead of coming together for the same cause, people seem to separate and believe that we truly are in a “Battle of The Classes.”

Now I’m not protesting it, after all who doesn’t love some friendly competition? But the question is where to draw the line. It seems that,to a select few, this competition can reach a point where there isn’t anything friendly about it. In this individuals are no longer taking advantage of something that they should be proud to take a part in.

After all, not many other schools can say they have the opportunity to give and celebrate at the same time.

Believe it or not, a few bad apples do have the potential to ruin the bunch. So let’s prevent this. Our school has proven, time and time again, the true family that we are. So let’s continue that cycle. If you see an apple getting bruised, pick it up and polish it. Let’s hold each other accountable in order to make someone else’s wish come true.

So throughout the HOG Games, remember that although we are in separate districts, we should still maintain the same goals.
