In order to raise money for a child from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the annual HOG (Helping Others Through Giving)Week, which theme this year follows The Hunger Games, will take place from April 7-14.

“Kids at Timberview like to give back and like to do things for others,” Student Council Sponsor Heather Colburn said.

The week will include kickball, dodgeball, senior auction, messy pep rallies, powderpuff, principal switch, a cook out and Cinderfella.

“My favorite part is probably the messy pep rallies because everyone gets so competitive but at the same time all the money is going towards the same thing,” junior Karen Cruz said.

The events have been a tradition since 2006.

“I get so excited because it’s a chance for me to give back to the community and to help others that are not capable of doing something they want to do,” junior Leo Espinosa said.

Even though he is a freshman, Derondrian Hughes is excited about participating in the powderpuff game.

“I’m expecting a lot of fun, excitement and activities,” he said.

The goal this year is to raise $15,000.

“We raised about that last year and we’re hoping to make about the same,” Colburn said.

Although it is a week filled with events, most students don’t forget the real reason they participate.

“The best part is that a whole entire school could all come together,” Cruz said. “It’s honestly just a great experience.”
