Prairie Lights Reopens at Discounted Price

Hana Ali, Staff Writer

Due to recent floods caused by high waters at Joe Pool Lake, Prairie Lights, powered by Breeze Energy, has reopened with lower prices to compensate for the shorter route. An alternate, recycled asphalt road was created in six days to bypass the flooded area.

“I go because it’s a fun experience that I want to share with new people every year,” junior Kacie Pimentel. “I love going because it gets me in the holiday spirit.”

Since customers will only be able to see 75% of the displays, they are offering a 25% discount until the original route is reestablished.

“I’m glad their prices were lowered because (Prairie Lights) has been more overpriced since it first opened and (the lower prices) allowed us to do more in the holiday tent,” Pimentel said.

Although Pimentel said the path definitely felt shorter, she believes the lower prices also allow families who’ve never been, a chance to visit this well-known place.

“It will attract more people because there are people who have never been and are reluctant to spend on money on it,” Pimentel said.

Each vehicle will be given a letter explaining the situation and a $5 off coupon for the Holiday Village Gift Shop. Visit their website at www.prairielights.org/hours-and-admission/ to find out more.

Entrance prices are as follows:
Car
Monday-Thursday – $15
Friday-Sunday and holidays – $25
Larger vehicles range in prices.
