In honor of Chris Brown’s 20th anniversary of his self-titled debut album, the hip-hop singer launched the Breezy Bowl XX World Stadium Tour. Brown teased a “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT THURSDAY” on social media last March, which was followed days later by the official announcement of his tour.
The concert featured a huge setlist with over 50 songs organized into four distinct thematic acts: The Rise, The Fall, Fantasy and Legacy. Each act demonstrated different time periods throughout his career. The Rise focused on his early hit-filled teen-pop years, while The Fall highlighted the more challenging, hard and controversial parts of his career. While Fantasy and Legacy focused on his evolution and dedication as an R&B and pop artist.
In Miami on July 30, he marked the beginning of the Global Breezy Bowl XX Tour. Brown made his appearance on Sept. 2-3, at Globe Life Field in Arlington. This was his ninth out of 22 North American shows. Tickets ranged anywhere from $60 to over $200, depending on the seat. Before Brown hit the stage, popular artists Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller performed top hits like “No Guidance” featuring Drake (2019) and Walker’s “Girls Need Love.” The co-artists made the show even more enjoyable, especially Tiller, who had an amazing setlist and gave Chris Brown credit for inviting him on the tour.
Around 8:25 p.m. the lights dimmed, and a picture and video montage of Chris Brown’s life and tour clips appeared on the big screen. Minutes later, the famous R&B singer opened with his 2005 #1 hit “Run It.” Songs that followed included other hits like “Gimme That” and “Forever.” The concert lasted around four hours.
The energy from the crowd was high, as everyone was on their feet singing along to every song performed. Both Arlington tour dates were sold out, setting a record as the highest-attended back-to-back concerts in the venue’s history. It was reported that close to 25,000 fans attended.
Overall, the concert was amazing and worth the wait. I enjoyed the fan camera that showed everyone in the crowd, the lights that changed with the mood and the stage backgrounds that matched the album covers. I was most excited because some of my favorite songs were played, including “Drunk Texting,” “2012,” “Residuals,” “Back to Sleep” and “New Flame.” His lengthy and versatile setlist made this concert memorable.
