New Season of American Horror Story Sure to Freak Out Fans
Fans were excited to learn where show creator Ryan Murphy would take his interesting, yet disturbing, “American Horror Story” this season. No one knew exactly what to expect considering he has taken his popular series from a murderous house to an insane asylum then to a training school for witches. When he finally announced that season four would be centered around a carnival, many different “freaky” ideas ran through viewers’ minds.
This new season, ironically titled “Freak Show,” is based in 1952 when people who were different were always being pointed out and degraded for their abnormalities. This specific group of carnies are trying to survive in this risky performance world as one of the few carnivals still around. With their arrival, the dark presence they bring forth may put the townsfolk in danger.
Murphy has brought back some of the main cast members from the previous seasons like Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Emma Roberts. This decision paid off really well for him in the past years, making viewers only want to come back for more. What’s really unique is he uses the same actors to tell a completely different story each season.
In addition to these regulars, he cast new people like the world’s smallest woman, Jyoti Amge, and Skyler Samuels as a local. There have even been rumors of Cher making an appearance on the show. Another big rumor is that there will be a character on the show who is supposed to portray the infamous Slender Man.
One of the biggest things fans are excited for is the return of Naomi Grossman who played Pepper in “Asylum”. This season is supposed to show what happened to Pepper 12 years before she was sent into the asylum. Murphy is doing a great job of teasing viewers with her back story.
Jessica Lange, who is again playing the leader, said that this is by far her favorite season yet. She said finds all the abnormal things going on in the show fascinating. Even though she announced that this will be her last season of “American Horror Story,” she said she has loved every moment of it.
“American Horror Story: Freak Show” will air on Wed., Oct. 8. If you haven’t seen this series, give it a try but be warned, the series deals with adult themes and can be disturbing. While you’re waiting, make sure to watch the carefully planned previews. Let your mind wonder about what Murphy has waiting for you.
