Endless Love Perfect for Teenage Girls
Endless Love, released in time for Valentine’s Day, was a melodramatic movie that is perfect for teenage girls. The movie, a remake of the 1981 film starring Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt, is about a love story between two teenagers who aren’t supposed to be together because their parents are trying to keep them apart.
The film, based on a novel by Scott Spencer, stars David Elliot (Alex Pettyfer) and Jade Butterfield (Gabriella Wilde) as star-crossed lovers, who have excellent chemistry together. This 2014 film was much better than the 1981 film because the new version shows viewers the darker side of the story while the 1981 film is more innocent.
Jade’s father, Hugh (Bruce Greenwood) thinks he’s protecting his young daughter by doing what is best for her: keeping her away from the lower class David. After all, he has not been raised in a rich family like theirs. David, who works in his dad’s auto shop, doesn’t have any future plans besides being happy.
As her dad tries his hardest to keep them apart, Jade and David seem to be falling in love. Jade feels like David has brought her out of a sheltered life and into reality.
Pettyfer, who was also in the film Beastly, shows a new side, which will make girls love him. He is definitely cast as a heartthrob and plays the role of a cool and mysterious guy very well. Gabriella Wilde, who was also in Carrie, plays a very romantic, sweet role. Wilde, who seems to have a lot of potential, is likely to be cast in more movies.
Endless Love brought in $13.4 million over opening weekend. If you are looking for a date movie, this is it. Despite the dramatic preview, most will enjoy the ending.
