Entertainment Industry Brings Heat to Winter

With winter finally settling in, the entertainment industry is ready to add some heat to the season. A large number of award-winning movies are coming out and there are high expectations for these films. From serious dramas to a light-hearted Disney film, there is something for everyone in the family to see.

A must watch movie for families this winter is “Saving Mr. Banks” which is set to release on Dec. 20. Tom Hanks takes on the role of Walt Disney, who faces the challenges of bringing Mary Poppins to the big screen in 1964. The director John Lee Hancock claimed that he wrote this movie with Hanks in mind. This movie should be a funny movie for young children to watch while also entertaining the older kids and parents.

Another movie that looks like it would be an awesome choice to go watch is “American Hustle.” This movie, which releases on Dec. 20, includes actress Jennifer Lawrence in a drama that will encourage her to use the acting skills. If her performance is anything like that of the Academy Award nomination she received for “Winter’s Bone”, it will be excellent. The movie also stars Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper as a reckless FBI agent, who comes with a plan to bring down corrupt politicians and gangsters.

One of the two highly anticipated films coming out on Christmas Day is “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”  The unique thing about this movie is that Ben Stiller both stars in and directs it. Personally, Stiller has always been a great actor and his movies have been very funny, but with all honesty the trailer is very confusing. He is playing the role of a day-dreamer and from the preview you can’t tell what it real or not. The preview alone might scare off viewers.

Finally, the one film all movie lovers must see before winter is over is “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Fans will find that Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey and Jonah Hill’s characters will be entertaining as they attempt to pull off a royal scam. The release date, now set for Dec. 25, has changed many times. Some are worried that this might signal a weak or problematic plot but with the incredible cast of viewers are sure to have enjoy the film.
