What You Just Don’t Know: Anthony Drumgoole
September 13, 2019
The hot, glaring sun hovers over the varsity football team. For Guard Anthony Drumgoole, the plays being ran are routine. The ball is snapped, and the senior positions himself for the play. In an instant, he feels his leg give out and falls to the floor in anguish.
Before the start of the season, Drumgoole suffered an MCL tear during practice.
“I’ve had nightmares about being hurt my senior year,” Drumgoole said. “Now I’m just trying to make the best out of my last year.”
When Drumgoole was on the floor in pain, he didn’t think there was any way he could get up. With the help of teammates and coaches, he was able to make it to his feet and walk.
“It’s taking some time for it to heal,” Drumgoole said. “I can’t play or practice, but I keep myself occupied by motivating the team and keeping their strive to win.”
He’s expected to miss the first six games of the season.
“I’m not sure exactly when I’ll be back,” Drumgoole said. “But for sure I’ll be playing again this season, stronger than before.”
