The second leg of the Champions League Semi-finals just ended with FC Barcelona falling short and losing 7-6 on aggregate to Inter Milan (Inter). We are going to dive deeper to see how they lost and what Inter needs to do to go all the way to the final game.
First, let’s start with FC Barcelona (Barca), arguably the best team in this tournament, but Barcelona didn’t have their two fullbacks (Jules Kounde, Alejandro Balde). Barca had a very strong attack with the likes of winger Raphael Dias Belloli and the 17-year-old wonder kid Lamine Yamal. On the other hand, Coach Simone Inzaghi’s tactics are very confusing for other teams to face and are effective in getting space in behind. Inter Milan plays a 3-1-4-2 formation, which provides a lot of width for the wing-backs.
Although Inter is among the best teams at the moment, the group still has their weaknesses. Inter has managed to beat Barca, but they didn’t do a good job of stopping Yamal from dribbling at their defence, something Paris Saint-Germain’s Desire Doue will definitely do in the final when they go against them.
On the other hand, Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde were injured, which gave Inter the edge in the second leg, but they will have to stop PSG’s Luis Enrique on May 31, in the finals.
Paris Saint-Germain was able to outsmart Arsenal on May 7 with a 3-1 win on aggregate, with another great performance from winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Doue across the two legs. Arsenal was able to create chances for themselves in the second leg, but a great goalkeeper performance by Gianluigi Donnarumma, with eight saves across both legs, held Arsenal to one goal, and a great goal by Fabián Ruiz that expanded their lead in 27 minutes of the second leg. PSG didn’t do much wrong against a weak Arsenal side.
Although Inter Milan beat the strong FC Barcelona side, I feel they weren’t convincing enough to say that they will be the champions, so with that, I feel that Paris Saint-Germain will comfortably beat Inter Milan with a score of 3-1. This is because Paris Saint-Germain has the better attacking and fullback Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes will cause big problems that Inter Milan will have a hard time-solving. With that being said, I have Paris Saint-Germain winning the Champions League Final.
