With a score of 52-35, the Varsity Boys Basketball won the Regional Quarterfinal round of the playoffs Tuesday night against the The Colony.

“It was a hard-fought game most of the time, but our defense is what really made us pull out the win in the end,” senior C.J. Smith said “The win felt great knowing that we’re going to the regional tournament after falling short last year.”

Head Coach Duane Gregory said that defense and rebounding are things that the team has focused on all season.

“We defended really well the other night,” Gregory said. “There have been some things that we’ve been trying to clean up the past couple of weeks and the guys executed really well to the point where they held the Colony by 13 points the entire second half. They communicated well, they defended well and they played well together.”

With this win, the boys advanced to the semi-finals. They play tonight against Monterey at 6 p.m.

“One game at a time,” Gregory said. “We want to go take care of Lubbock Monterey and then see what’s beyond.”

If fans want to see the game, they can drive to Snyder and watch the team play at Western Texas College.

“(Fan support) feels great,” senior Tristan Starks said. “It’s all the motivation we need.”
