Student-Athletes Commit to Colleges
Athletes from several sports signed National Letter of Intents last Wednesday in the PAC.
“I am very happy and proud of him,” Jaime Anzaldua, Alejandro’s father said. “I hope he takes the advantage of going to college.”
Alejandro, who signed with Trinity College, was one of seven athletes who committed.
“I’m very pleased about the process and happy for the students and their parents,” Coach Gysamuell Humes said. “Seeing the students set a goal, work hard toward the goal and seeing them be rewarded for the hard work is very satisfying.”
The scholarship offer came as no surprise, his father said.
“I really thought he would, he has always shown a great effort in everything he does,” Jaime said.
Alejandro said he’s excited about going to college.
“I get to go to a college that I love and get my degree,” Alejandro said.
Less than five percent of high school students get the opportunity to play football in college.
Humes said, “Receiving an athletic scholarship to college is a major accomplishment for our students.”
