Boy’s Varsity Basketball Prepares for Off-Season
With the Boy’s Varsity Basketball season coming to an end without a trip to the playoffs, the players are already preparing for off-season changes to their performance.
“We will work on the strength aspect of the game, team playing and ball movement,” Head Coach Duane Gregory said.
The 7-5A district includes teams like Duncanville and South Grand Prairie High School.
“This the most difficult district in the state of Texas, there is very little argument about that,” Gregory said. “You know that every night you have to be ready to compete at the highest level with very little margin for error.”
Desoto was one of the team’s most difficult opponents to play, according to sophomore Roman Garrett-Anderson.
“They (were) bigger and faster than us and they had really good point guards,” he said.
Gregory said that his players needed to work better together.
“Talking and communicating on the court was a big issue,” he said.
During the off-season, players like Garrett-Anderson, said the boys’ need to work on improving as a unit.
“We should get better at passing the ball and being team players,” Garrett-Anderson said.
Junior Sean Coleman said that he struggled in the Cedar Hill game.
“I didn’t play my best and I know I wasn’t (going strong),” he said.
Coleman said he is working on his technique.
“I been working on my game and being a smarter player,” he said.
Gregory said he appreciated all the support the team has received.
“Thanks to the people who came to our games to support us,” he said. “We are excited for next year because the group of players next year will have good chemistry.”
