The Timberview Varsity football team wins 28-14 against Killeen Shoemaker.

With a score of 28-14, the Varsity football team won the first round playoff game against Killeen Shoemaker last Saturday, which advances them to the second round of playoffs against the Trinity Trojans this weekend.

“It feels great because all our hard work in practice and in the off-season has paid off,” Offensive Line Coach Guy Humes said.

The score was close until the second half.

“It felt good to be ahead the second half of the game because nobody thought we were going to get close to this team,” sophomore Michael Badejo said.

Two players scored a total of four touchdowns.

“Junior Myron Gailliard scored a touchdown and then senior Tevin Muse scored three touchdowns,” sophomore Travonne Armstead said.

Armstead said he was excited about the chance to perform where the Cowboys play.

“My motivation was (that) we are going to Cowboys Stadium (AT&T Stadium) to play Trinity, my old school,” he said.

Head Coach James Brown said the team has struggled to make up for low numbers.

“We have been at a disadvantage all year with our enrollment being at least 900 kids less than any school we have played this year,” Brown said.

The team has been focusing on decreasing penalties.

“We have to play mistake free in order to win,” Brown said.

Tickets to the game are available for a discounted price this week. Parking at the stadium will be $10 a car.

“Our kids deserve every bit of success they are having,” Brown said.

The game is Saturday at 5 p.m.

Humes said, “We need a lot of support from the teachers, students and fan so that we can out cheer the Trinity fans.”
