Students Need to Clean Up After Themselves at Lunch
The bell rings and the Commons is packed as students leave lunch. People hurry to their next class without paying attention to the items they left on the tables. The trash that students leave has to be picked up by the janitors and they don’t enjoy cleaning up after us.
There is no reason that your trash shouldn’t be put in the bins because the custodians even come around and offer to pick it up. Not only that but there are trashcans at the end of every row of tables. But yet we seem to have difficulty throwing away our own trash. It just isn’t right.
When you leave your stuff, the students in the next lunch have to wait for the custodians to clean the table off. Nobody wants to wait to eat when they have their plate already or eat in someone else’s filth. Cleaning up after your self is something you should have learned by the time you enter high school.
Stop being lazy and make sure you pick up after yourself. Remind your friends to do the same! It’s disappointing that we can’t even clean up the place we all like to hang out at. All we need to do is throw our trays away at the designated places.
Next time you leave the cafeteria, make sure you already have your mess taken care of so that the custodians can focus on more important tasks around the school rather than cleaning up the food we are too lazy to dispose of.
