Ways to Prepare for AP Exams

With Advanced Placement (AP) Exams, I see many of my classmates transform into these paranoid, anxious little monsters. So here are some necessary precautions to help prevent yourself from becoming these ill creatures.

In order to be successful on the exam, you must first figure out your kryptonite. Whether it’s remembering historical dates, equations, grammar or supernatural green rocks; working on your weakness will strengthen you.

Instead of scrolling around on Instagram and liking random selfies of people you don’t know, go on to collegeboard.com and try some of their practice exams. It wouldn’t hurt to devote 10 minutes of your precious scrolling time to prepare yourself for a test that could aid your future. Trust me, your friend’s feelings won’t get hurt if you don’t like one of their million selfies. They probably won’t even realize it.

Who says you have to be a loner when it comes to studying? Create your own study group with a few of your classmates. It may surprise you on how they can take a boring subject like foreign policy and turn it into something as exciting as an episode of Scandal. Make sure you are very careful when forming your group because you don’t want to choose a moocher who doesn’t contribute to the group or a person with a monotone voice that tempts you to sleep through their mini-lecture on fallacies.

Also, make sure you take advantage of after-school study sessions instead of finding excuses to stay home and watch reruns of “Teen Wolf”. Believe me, cute supernatural werewolves aren’t going to help you write a rhetorical essay in 30 minutes, but your teachers will.

Finally, give yourself a break. If humans were meant to take on huge loads of pressure then high blood pressure wouldn’t exist. Just remember stress doesn’t give you excellent scores, but being well-prepared will.
